2020 Spring Schedule

Image
Schedule effective January 6 - April 23 The fairy lights fall dark. The cookie jar is empty. The radio forgets timeless tunes. The holidays are over, and thus begins... diet season. As a fitness instructor, my position during this time takes that of a gravedigger during the plague. While I’m obviously disappointed, it has been very good for me. Media offers expensive, dangerous, and manipulative ways to change our bodies. We are audaciously promised better lives in the end. My friend, all that you do, all that you are, is enough. Remember that your yoga practice is only one of the many ways in which you show up for yourself all year long. Trust that you know what serves you. Let go of what does not. Be brave. I invite you to come as you are to my spring yoga classes. Sessions in residence halls are free to all with an MSU ID, sessions in IM Sports East are free with your group exercise membership or $4.00 to drop-in.  See Y...

2019 Fall Schedule

To my left is a pile of unwashed dishes. To my right, a stack of unopened textbooks. Yet in the middle, in the present moment, I smile.  Because I'm writing a letter to you. A love letter you greatly deserve. Announcing your 2019 fall schedule. Cue the fanfare.  I am grateful to host four opportunities each week for you to take what you need. While each class is unique, they are space to breathe. Reflect. Move. Recall that you are loved... Unconditionally. My friends with MSU identification are welcome to all of these classes. Hall sessions are free to attend. Those held in IM Sports East are included with your group fitness membership, or are $4.00 to attend otherwise. Those of any age, ability, and experience are invited. See you on the mat! Your instructor, Renee

Peace with change

Summer schedule effective May 2019 - August 2019 I am incredibly grateful to have spent my summer teaching yoga at Joy Studios and Deer Lake Athletic Club. My AMAZING students and INSPIRING fellow instructors have become invaluable friends. You have evoked change in my soul. Deep, messy, beautiful change. As the East Lansing skyline becomes colored with reds and yellows of autumn trees, I feel the need to hold tightly to the blessings of the summer. This is a familiar tug. Summers are spent immersed in self-care, yet I fail to maintain these practices when arriving to the banks of the Red Cedar. I become frustrated. Insecure. How could I have nourished myself so deeply, yet have grown so little? It is time breathe in. Breathe out. Roll with the changes. Yoga aids in coping with that which is off of the mat. As my life changes, so must my practice. Summer yoga is sacred, yet allowing it to transform into a serviceable autumn practice teaches an essential skill.  Peace with change....
